One of the summer’s many beauties is the ability to capture any kind of mood during any event. Jumping at the rail during the festival headliner, hosting a kickback with some close friends at home, and everything in between feel just right in the summer! Whether the vibes are energetic or laidback, Audius sets the mood with this week’s Hot & New playlist update!

Founder of Sable Valley, RL Grime, collaborated with frequent resident on the label, Juelz, on their latest speaker-eviscerating track, “Breach.” Although the track opens celestially, metallic and futuristic elements make themselves known, immediately boosting its energy. Driving lasers and RL Grime’s signature quavering bass frequencies build up and release into high-pitched electronic horns. Despite the intensity, “Breach” wields an undeniable bounce in its rhythm. Combining modern trap with notes from techno and other genres in “Breach,” RL Grime and Juelz continue setting new standards for trap music.

Flipping to a softer side of festival music, DJ SHAAN returns to Audius with a gentle remix of “Boys Don’t Cry,” originally by Jake Banfield. Teaming up once more with Endrate on a remix, DJ SHAAN contrasts a staccato bassline with iridescent synths and angelic chords. The blossoming instrumentation pairs with the emotional lyrics throughout “Boys Don’t Cry.” This luscious remix reminds listeners why DJ SHAAN is a leading EDM artist in India, his production talents standing strong next to his other legendary accolades, including being the first Indian DJ to perform at Tomorrowland.

SPAG HEDDY makes their Audius debut teasing their brand new album, The Noodle Effect, by posting a single, “SORRY.” A master of meshing the silly and the serious, SPAG HEDDY gives Audius listeners a taste of their signature sauce. “SORRY” opens up with a playful reggae-inspired beat hybridized with pianos and sounds reminiscent of electro-swing. However, “SORRY” quickly evolves into gritty, punching bass that overlays this reggae-esque riff, maintaining a certain mischief throughout the entire song. Without a doubt, SPAG HEDDY has carved their own path in bass music, and “SORRY” solidifies that with Audius listeners.

Turning of the festival sound systems and turning on portable JBLs, Audius once again features sptmbr yngstr. and their honey-smooth production. This time, sptmbr yngstr. teams up with vocalist Falcxne for “september.” With reverb heavily used on Falcxne’s vocals, listeners are immediately submerged under calm waters. “september.” feels almost lo-fi with this slightly muffled filter on the instrumentation and the haunting, introspective mood in the vocals. This calming tune is perfect for watching the sunset poolside with some close friends.

Curtis Waters resurfaces on Audius, unveiling their latest album, BAD SON. One song that particularly stood out to listeners was “PEACE AND QUIET (ft. tinooo).” Opening with a soothing acoustic guitar riff, this song manages to capture a vintage feel with the dampened sound applied to all elements. In this sense, Curtis Waters almost disorients listeners, invoking the same confused and drained feelings when all someone needs is “PEACE AND QUIET.”
