Fire to Fight the Freeze: Umphrey's McGee, Jetpack Jones, Henry Fong & more! Hot & New 1/15

The entire continental United States is captured by freezing temperatures and icy weather! To help our listeners warm up, Audius carefully selected some heaters from the latest releases on our website! Curl up with the fire in this week’s Hot & New playlist update.

Nationally renowned jam band Umphrey’s McGee shares their special song, “Let’s Dance,” featuring the legendary Huey Lewis on vocals and Jeff Coffin on saxophone. This track holds a bittersweet story with it: “Let’s Dance” is Huey Lewis’ final studio recording. Unfortunately, Huey Lewis was forced to step away from a highly decorated music career due to hearing loss and Meniere’s Disease. Although “Let’s Dance” carries a heavy weight, the funk and joy join together Umphrey’s McGee, Huey Lewis, and listeners through a shared, universal love of music.

Making their Audius debut, California-based artist Jetpack Jones encourages listeners to evaluate their New Year’s resolutions in “Prioritie$.” The silken beat is lathered in sensual luxury, but the lyrics tell a different story. Henry Fong reinvents one of 2023’s smash drum and bass hits, “Baddadan” by Chase & Status, Bou, Flowdan, IRAN, Trigga, and Takura. This supergroup collaboration eviscerated speakers worldwide and inspired producers to remix this gigantic track. Enter the Henry Fong remix: a hyper house dominated by grumbling frequencies and maddening build-ups. Here, “Baddadan” is adjusted over a four-on-the-floor beat paired, but Henry Fong maintains they fiery drum and bass energy from the original. Henry Fong’s remix of “Baddadan” will certainly become a fast favorite of both house heads and junglists!
