Deep Reflections: Local Dialect, minnesota, BROOK1E & more! Hot & New 4/29

In the midst of the joyous spring season, the Earth undergoes a period of fresh blossoming and rebirth. Audius celebrates this cycle in this week’s Hot & New playlist update with stunning and somber songs.

Minnesota, producer and key figure in the American bass music scene, closes out this alias with an awe-inspiring 40-track album. Clocking in at nearly 2.5 hours of new originals, Solis State Discoveries allows listeners new and old to navigate Minnesota’s labyrinthine imagination. A cornucopia of genres and sounds, Minnesota ends this project with a bang by presenting one of the longest electronica albums seen in quite some time. Dive deep into the discography of Minnesota, but also keep an eye on his socials; while the Minnesota project comes to a bittersweet end, he continues teasing his next musical chapter.

New York-based producer duo Local Dialect shares a special tune from their repertoire with Audius! The track “Saranyu,” named after the Hindu goddess of twilight and clouds, was featured in Lane 8’s Spring 2020 installment of his seasonal mix series. However, Loca Dialect held this otherworldly deep house track close to their chest for some years before officially releasing it. Now, Audius users can unwind in this dreamy, introspective soundscape whenever they would like!

Producer and claymation artist BROOK1E unveils their latest single, “Divine Hymn.” A study in percussion and rhythm, BROOK1E explores a crossover between ambient jungle and club music in this beat. “Divine Hymn” utilizes punchy and sharp textures juxtaposed with airy synths and celestial humming. This unique composition contains intrigue for audiophiles, junglists, and everyone in between; indeed, BROOK1E stimulates senses and neurons with “Divine Hymn.”

World-renowned musician Petit Biscuit drops the first single from his upcoming album, Disciple. “I Forgot What’s Love” is a gentle, melancholic collaboration with Australian pop group, Cub Sport. This international collaboration crosses two oceans, bridging the sounds bursting from France and Australia. “I Forgot What’s Love” lifts listeners on a cloud, leaving behind secular shallowness to reflect on the complex emotions humanity is blessed to feel. This shimmering song stays with one’s heart, enabling deeper thought about difficult emotions and leaving us hopeful for Disciple, releasing on June 28.

Mexican DJ and producer Momis Alanis presents an energizing warehouse techno track, “Let’s G.O.A.T.” Opening with a tension-building four-on-the-floor beat, Momis Alanis incorporates an iconic sample in the intro: the guitar riff from “Sirius” by 1980’s group The Alan Parsons Project. Often used to generate vigor at sports events, Momis Alanis sets speakers aflame with this sample. Weaving the “Sirius” sample with driving techno, “Let’s G.O.A.T.” lures ravers to the dancefloor, instilling them with a feeling of invincibility.
