As the leaves outside turn tinges of orange, our musical tastes take a turn for the chill and contemplative. This week’s collection of fresh releases features emotive pop tracks and introspective bops; our Hot & New playlist is, without a doubt, the perfect way to dive into autumn.

Audius welcomes the record label Glasgow Underground to the platform with the uploading of three of their latest heaters. One of the tracks comes from Glasgow Underground’s founder, Kevin McKay. He teamed up with fellow house DJ and producer James Cole for a rework of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know.” This remix came from a serendipitous exchange between the two artists in which they learned they both have an edit of this iconic hit. So, Kevin McKay and James Cole worked together on a fresh, collaborative take, and the result is a hypnotic, easy-listening deep house version of “Somebody That I Used To Know,” pairing excellently with sunset DJ sets.

The Audius spotlight shines once again on the angelic Izzy Bizu as she celebrates her Goodbye Hello EP. Not only does this four-track body of work feature her jubilant single “Flower Power” among others, but it also presents a brand-new track, “Goodbye Hello.” Opening quietly, Izzy Bizu immediately captures a contemplative yet accepting mood. Underlined by a gentle acoustic guitar and ghostly synth chords, Izzy Bizu sings about closing the door on a relationship. “Goodbye Hello” revels in the melancholic yet freeing feeling of moving on from someone who no longer fits in your life, something all too familiar to listeners.

Joey Pecoraro cruises in the slow lane with his newest song, “Bumped My Head.” Although this track is subdued and gentle, a plucky guitar and upbeat piano add a touch of playfulness to “Bumped My Head.” This calming indie-folk tune is the latest in a string of singles that are teasing Joey Pecoraro’s upcoming album. While the anticipated album drops on September 21st, “Bumped My Head” satiates fans’ excitement in the meantime with its dainty instrumentation and easygoing energy.

One of Audius’ favorite reggae rock bands Iration shares a sensual ska tune, “Last Night,” featuring internationally renowned reggae singer Maxi Priest. Iration provides twinkling guitars and honeyed vocals, while Maxi Priest’s singing adds exuberant passion to the easy-going reggae rock. “Last Night” holds adoration and dedication in every upbeat, becoming the crossroads for decades worth of romantic reggae music.
